Another decent episode of School Rumble. We get to see some side character story action but although I had a good chuckle over the Nishimoto story, I’d still say the Imanikaiwa party(subbers translated it as “hotpot”) story was the strongest of this episode. The Sister story at the end was more romantic than comedic but it was still somewhat enjoyable.

Before the OP, we see Suga Ryuhei at Asou’s family Ramen shop. Apparently he gets free ramen because of their history, hehe but along with the ramen, he gets Asou’s thumb as well. Awesome.

The whole hotpot scene makes me so jealous. Not only do I wan’t some nice soup right now, but it reminds me big family or friend gatherings. Ahh, high school.

Well, it looks like everyone is having fun. You see snipets of a few people chatting and whatnot. It seems this is the first Yakumo has been to one of these gatherings and feels out of place. Not knowing the rules, she doesnt bring any meat for her and Tenma, but Harima saves the day by providing them some. Success!

It pans over to Imadori, Tougou, Lala, and Ichijou at another pot trying to decide what to eat. Imadori isn’t happy at all that he got stuck with Lala and Tougou because of what happened in the basketball episodes. They end up making some weird crazy-looking stew. Um…Yeah, I wouldn’t eat it. Lala and Tenma seem to enjoy it though. Leave it to the two weird girls to enjoy something so obviously disgusting.

Ichijou decides that they should make a new soup with the remaining veggetables, and this one looks WAY better. Imadori tries to get revenge by putting his basketball shoelace in the stew when nobody is looking. Too bad it backfires and Tougou ends up feeding it to Imadori. I love his “Gorgeous” after he eats it.

Meanwhile Hanai is trying to feed Yakumo (that bastard! she’s mine), but keeps blowing what seems to be nasty breath onto the stew as tries to cool it off. It’s quite a lovely sight if I may say so myself.

Tenma says she likes pork soup and Harima starts eminating a dark aura while patting Napoleon. Ha, poor pig. Well the pig notices this and starts running around as Harima chases it. They knock over everyone’s meals and the party is over.

I’m guessing it skips to that night, not sure exactly the timeline, but in any case it’s nightime. An earthquake suddenly starts shaking and you hear a loud crash. You find out at school the next day that Nishimoto injured himself trying to pause his dirty video amidst the earthquake. He decides he has too many and tries to clean them up, but instead starts handing them out to people who come over. Imadori, Yoshidayama, and Nara all end up taking some dvds. I like how Nishimoto is portrayed as somewhat of a Buddha or Teacher type figure in these exchanges. They respect him for his movie collection.

Finally, Hanai shows up to see what all the commotion is about and sees the remaining movies. He desides that this could be bad for the school’s image and wants to confiscate the movies so he can watch them later at night alone. Too bad as he’s running away with them, he runs into Yakumo. Grats perv! (you can’t have her anyways, she’s mine)
She runs away and he takes off after her and thats the end of that. Afterwards he goes to church to confess his “sins” but doesn’t really seem like he’s repenting. Aparently Sarah, the sister on confession duty, recognizes that its Hanai by his voice, lol…Smoooth. At least he got embarassed by Yakumo and Sarah after stealing the dirty movie Guru’s movies. Shame on him for ruining their fun.

Next comes Tanaka, who is trying to work up the courage to confess to a special girl, but believes he can only do it after he(yes soccer is a one man game aparently) wins a soccer game. Silly flawed highschool guy logic. You see this often in animes, guess it happens in real life, although I’ve never thought of confessing after a wrestling match. Thats just weird. Anyways…

The next day Sarah gets a confession and is kind of embarassed and doesn’t really know what to do. The guy was a total wimp and hightailed it out of there after he gave her a letter. What the heck is that? Well now Sarah understands Tanaka’s feelings towards some girl and goes to watch him soccer game. Poor Tanaka, he got owned right before scoring a goal. It’s kind of a sad moment as you see the girl run off crying and he’s screaming at the sky crying. I just shook my head at the computer screen. Flawed logic anyways.

Well that doesn’t stop him, he goes back to confession and tells Sister Sarah that he’ll confess after he wins. She runs out of the booth and screams good luck. I was almost moved by this part, but I watch this anime for its comedy so I wasn’t in the right mood.

The episode ends with Sarah working at Asou’s shop and serving Suga Ryuhei his favorite ramen. Too bad her finger is in the soup just like Asou’s was at the beginning. I love the usage of the flashing arrow. So funny.

Overall, I enjoyed this episode. I’ve never really been let down by any episode of School Rumble, although I enjoyed the beginning of the series a lot better. Lets just hope the next episode is of the same calibur or better and I’ll be happy.
