Naruto - 199 - Irrelevant! The Target Is Becoming Clearer!

    Rating: 6/10

Irrelevant. Yes, that’s pretty much what this episode was. Not only does the target “become clearer” but the arc took a turn for the worst. I hope that they introduce a twist (any twist, hell make it stupid, I don’t care anymore) or start a war of some kind so I can get some action.

I had all these theories about what might happen, and I was pretty set that this whole thing was a setup by either Tsunade or Kakashi, but now I don’t know. It seems to me that this is “real” and that the town is really in danger. Why am I not happy that there is a real threat, I dunno, maybe because it’s BORING!!!!!

    Here’s a shameless Shizune plug:

According to Darkshaunz, is one of the better female characters on the show, and I have to agree. I always say she reminds me of Rukia in bleach, but she has her own personality. Overall, I tend to enjoy seeing Shizune and Kurenai in any of the episodes, so this scene won points for me.

At least they tossed in a retarded scene with Hinata and Naruto. Since I don’t know a whole lot of Japanese, I didn’t really get the joke as much as I could have. Naruto asks Hinata to “come with him” to check out something suspicious but he worded it like “would you go out with me” or something of the sort, and Hinata went nuts. I thought she was having a seizure or something with all her finger twiddles n shit. It almost drove me crazy, but I held strong and conquered the minor annoyance.

Lee always cracks me up. Now he’s getting teary over all the students who are practicing while their Sensei doesn’t know. He did the patented burning fist shake, and tears started flowing from his happy eyes. Ahh Lee, why do I love you so?

Anyways, they figure out that this kunai practice post was the trigger to all the random explosives they found all around town. Wait! Now there’s explosive tags everywhere? Why didn’t Neji and Hinata see them beforehand??? Plot hole! Also, what this means now, is that the threat is real, and not just some setup (unless the tags are fake, which is possible).

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the most puzzling mystery of all! What the hell is up with this guys head?? Seriously, what the HELL! Is he like, an ninja egg user or something? Whats with his hair? Omg, I can’t get over this guy. Why does he bug me?! I bet he’s the culprit! A shinobi with an egg-head can only be evil…Ithink…He’s even got his accountant on the right, and his hitman on the left. This is definitely some sort of underground cartel or something, sent to take down Konoha. God…I’m mesmerized by the perfect egg-like shape and coherant thoughts just won’t come.

*clears throat* Anyways, as for the “story,” well, nothing really happened. They figured out Gennou’s corpse was a fake (which we already knew), and they discovered that he escaped through a tunnel hidden by fallen trees. Gennou left behind explosive notes which would be triggered once someone hits the red dot on the suspicious training post. Woo, 24 minutes in two sentences, how wonderful! Like I said, this episode was indeed “Irrelevant!” like the title says.

    Speculations:

    • This whole thing is real and they need to find Gennou, and anyone involved. Afterwards they need to figure out what their goal is and then eliminate the possibility of that goal happening. This isn’t very original and seems somewhat boring.
    • The whole thing is real, BUT there’s a twist. Maybe Gennou wasn’t really involved how we think, or maybe his grandson would be killed if he didn’t comply with the enemy. If they go the “real” route, then I’d rather see something like this happen. This would allow for some fighting and rescuing of Gennou and his grandson, thus making the situation a lot more exciting than a bland battle. We would probably also see some Naruto character magic, and he’d make some evil henchmen repent his ways or someshit like he always does.
    • It’s all a setup. Gennou was hired by someone (Tsunade or Kakashi) to test the Genin and give them all something to do other than boring missions. This, of course, entails stuff like a silly ending and allows for a minimal amount of damage to be done to the town and the characters. The most probable plot development to me.

I wanna hear what some people think about this arc other than the obvious stuff. I too enjoy all the Genin being together, and also the fact that it’s longer than one episode is *thumbs up*. One the other hand, I think the story is boring and unoriginal, and very straightforward. If anyone actually reads this, don’t be shy, I wanna hear what people like/hate about this arc, and they opinions on what might happen.

    1. Hey there Rets,

I hope you and your housemate are having a good time looking around and having a good time in general!

Nice writeup as usual, but I can sense the frustration this time around. I am sincerely hoping that this Filler Hell will end at episode 203, and we will get to see Kakashi Gaiden. Win points from me because you included a Shizune plug, she’s one lady I have a soft spot for ;) .

Also, the Egghead guy is made of Scary and Terrifying. I lol’d so hard at this blog, moreso than the other higher scoring ones, it was just too entertaining. But its kind of “SHIT ITS STILL FILLERS” entertaining :( .

I am still going with my theory that Kakashi probrably set this up with the other Jounin and Higher ups. Either that or Evil Eggman is sowing seeds of disruption (that was lol, Rets). Plus he is the only ninja I know with a freaking accountant. Jesus ninja math must be Hardcore.

Off Topic: Zero no Tsukaima is a bit slow this week, I hope everything is ok…

      Cheers,
      Darkshaunz.

    2. Yeah, the rating should actually be lower, but I was feeling generous. I think this episode was more like a 4/10 but the funny things like egg-head and whatnot gave it some special points.

There’s definately suspicious going on during this arc. I’m starting to believe egg-head is behind it all, that bastard! I still really like our theory of Kakashi devising the whole thing. It’s totally a perfect plot ending, especially since we haven’t seen him in “hella” episodes.

off topic: ZnT finished downloading. Time to gape at Louise in her love-potion form *swoon*

    3. I actually think it’s really Gennou behind all of this,…..though it will have a retarded ending even I can’t imagine……

But I also feel something in your way of thinking that this all is a set-up by Kakashi?
Should be a nice jump away from the fillers and on to Kakashi Gaiden.

      Hehe,….the Egg-Ninja…
Wouldn’t be surprised if we see that guy later (much) on in a filler…..
