This episode was snoringly boring. Though, what I did enjoy was the high quality of the art which lasted throughout the entirety of the episode. Basically there was just more story/plot development and it wasn’t done very efficiently or in any sort of speedy manner. I’m guessing they wanted to give Kenpachi’s fight its own episode.

I don’t know why I didn’t enjoy this episode that much, but it just didn’t seem to go anywhere. Sure the Bounto are finally starting to move, but they’re just moving; they haven’t started fighting yet. Even so, I was amazed with the quality of this episode and latched onto that aspect as I re-watched for anything important I might have missed.

First, I have to say, Ichigo made the BEST fucking sound right here. It was like “*smacks lips* muhhhhhhhhggghhh” or something to that effect. I rewound it and listened to it like 10 times. It’s awesome. I also really like his pose here and I’m sure there’s gonna be some fanart replicas in the near future.

We find out that I was right last episode, and that they used Ran’Tao to create Yoshino(woohoo ground breaking material right here…I’m so proud of myself). We also learn that Ishida my explode and kill everyone at any moment because of his mysterious bracelet! Oh no!

I love Kenpachi. It’s a different love than Byakuya or any other character that in the show. His fight with Ichigo was kind of touching, in a manly sort of way. I like the fact that despite him being overly serious about fighting and having kind of a menacing appearance, he’s actually a huge source of comic relief. Not only is his division like a misfit group of pirates or bandits, his vice-captain looks and acts like she’s 5. Speaking of which…

Yachiru is awesome. I can’t wait for the day she actually gets serious and fights. I will rejoice like all those Star Wars fanboys/girls when Yoda started bouncing around the room in Episode II. I’m thinking the fight will look similar to that as well. She’s just way too cute. I wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of Chibi character pops out of her Zanpakto when she releases Bankai, but then again she probably doesn’t have Bakai (like Kenpachi).

Is it just me, or did Kariya get plastic surgery? Also, his eyebrows seem to have grown since last episode. What’s his secret? I’m sure men all over the world would use it to stop their balding heads. I actually kind of enjoy his presence in the story. I’m glad they made a “cool” looking enemy, with some overpowered abilities.

I think the main reason I didn’t enjoy this episode that much was because I was spoiled that episode 98 would feature Zaraki Kenpachi in a battle against Maki. Hopefully next episode doesn’t let me down. I wan’t some good action, and none of this fake action crap. Kenpachi needs to kill Maki and make a damn show of it, and I’ll be all smiles from ear to ear for the rest of the week. As for this episode, meh, it was a nice prologue for the battle to come! Also, Lets hope to god they keep the animation quality this high for the remainder of the filler episodes.

    1. lol yes Kariya looked absolutely freakish this episode…why can’t the character animation just keep consistent?

    2. Thanks for the small Yachiru plug Rets! She’s uber awesome, when they finally show her fighting, I know I will rewatch that episode over and over and over until my eyes bleed profusely.

Also, She’s probrably going to have similar fighting style to Yoda (bouncing around) as you mentioned. I can’t wait until it happens, that is, of course assuming it EVER happens.

All in all, even Ichigo looked bored at the start there…was probrably a sign of things to come. I’ll just have to wait for your write up on next week’s ep.

    3. Well, hopefully next episode will live up to all my expectations. I always enjoy seeing Kenpachi so hopefully I’ll have some good things to say next week.

I hope to god they keep a decent animation quality going from now on. Sometimes it’s painfully ugly, and then there’s times when it’s amazingly well done(like this episode). Too bad Kariya looked like shit though.
