Rating: 8/10 - Lots of burning passion and poses this episode
I was a little worried what this anime would turn into because it felt like they used all their cards on the first episode. Well, they kind of did, but now we get to see all the characters from the first episode fleshed throughout the series. I really don’t have a problem with this style as long as it stays true to the genres. They showed us that the there’s a lot of comedic situations, comedic people, and a bunch of cute girls. All of this spells disaster…if by disaster I mean hilarity!
I’m actually a big fan of the “School Rumble” type anime style (I haven’t seen enough romance-comedies to compare it to anything else) and find they’re a lot easier to watch than a typical romance. This is exactly why I hope they don’t stray from the comedic aspect of this anime. If they manage to stay on track, then it should be a lot less painful than most of the harem/comedy series this season. I’m also eager to see more from the other females of the show. We get to see a little bit of Tsukasa this episode and she doesn’t look as cool as I first thought she was. I thought she was going to be a little less anoying and a little more Asa from Shuffle! Next episode seems to be a Tsukasa feature so we’ll see. I’m diggin’ the other characters though (e.g., top 4 athletes, minor female characters, Riku’s friends, outrageous teachers, etc.).
We get to see the Yakuza Chicken once again. Hopefully it doesn’t overstay its welcome because I’m the plugs. The *fist shake* was perfect in its completely random entrance. Please god keep these random occurances between not only Yakuza Chicken and Riku, but between EVERYONE and Riku. He seems to be the only normal guy in the whole damn school, but he fits in rather well, despite what he thinks. I’m thinking his “normalness” is what makes him stand out and be different, and as you can tell, being different is pretty much the foundation of Tokimeki Memorial.
I’ve always found it hard to talk about comedies because there’s not much substance, but hopefully we’ll get to see some relationships forming, and then it’ll be more fun to talk about.

I like this style better, but maybe make the picture borders thinner? like 1px
My favourite scene in this episode would be the ’shunpo’ Mohawk guy. Just loved how he just randomly changes position everytime the camera angle changes, while the main lead looks on befuddled. It was so random, it was hilarious.

Skane: Indeed, Indeed! The first time it happened I didn’t catch it because I was eating, but then I got a good chuckle out of it. I tend to like poses and stuff and random events like that the most.

I think that the Yakuza Chicken is DAMN Cool. If I ever buy this back home, I am going to buy becuase I want to see a Hardcore Gangsta Chicken. That shit is just too awesome to pass up.
