Naruto - Rant and Ramblings

I think I figured out why Naruto sucks so much, and the answer is simply that it’s boring. Compare the current Naruto with any long-lasting series and you’ll see that Naruto falls short in many aspects, but most importantly the entertainment aspect. I don’t even feel like watching the show anymore after realizing this, but I will anyways since I’m retarded.
Where is Naruto going and how will they get there?
That’s the big question that any Naruto fan should be worried about. Honestly, I don’t think the story is going anywhere and they have no reason to do so. What that means is that Naruto has turned into something that closely resembles American sitcoms/shows but don’t have nearly the same strength. It lacks everything because it tries to do everything, and that’s where it fails (makes sense? good).
If they did something similar to what Bleach or One Piece does, then I’m fairly certain the fillers wouldn’t be so bad. They just need to create their own filler arc, or many big filler arcs with a decent plot and some entertaining bosses. If we were given a 30 episode filler arc or hell two of them, I’d be happy enough right now to not be ranting about shitty fillers.
I’ll try and compare it with two American shows that I think kind of resemble the current Naruto:
- Scooby Doo - Honestly, I’d rather watch an old episode of Scooby Doo than Naruto fillers any day. Naruto tries to pull off the “mystery” setting a lot but in the end it’s predictable. Whats worse, is that they don’t TRY to be predictable. Scooby Doo gets old cartoon points as well, which make it infinitely more entertaining than Naruto. And no, this doesn’t mean if Naruto cut their budget it’d be infinitely more entertaining. That’d just make me slit my wrists and start writing emo songs about how my dog died the day I flunked out of school and became a cab driver only to lose my girlfriend to some rich businessman.
- Simpsons - I’m not sure if it’s fair to bring up the Simpsons in comparison to Naruto, but then again, Naruto is pretty popular. Still, Simpsons is 100x stronger than Naruto, purely based on the fact that they accomplish what they say they’ll accomplish. When you watch the Simpsons, you know you’ll get a wide range of humor. When you watch Naruto, you know you’ll get a wide range of shitty filler anime, and thats bad. You want to be a comedy? Be a fucking comedy. Want to be a serious shounen show with some comedy, then do that. Don’t give us half-assed everything.
Since I doubt it’s fair to compare American shows since they don’t rely on manga for their material, I’ll use Bleach and One Piece:
- Bleach - Bleach did something cool in that they made a HUGE filler arc. When I say huge, I really mean huge. Sure there’s one problem in having a huge filler arc, and that’s the fact that nothing can develop from the beginning to the end, but it helps the anime keep it feeling like a shounen anime. We’ve got a clear goal and a serious story that illustrates the path they take to accomplish it. Naruto doesn’t really have this because their arcs are so short and it leaves the viewer in a kind of “I don’t really care what happens” state. Then, when we get back to the real story, it doesn’t feel like we watched a filler arc because well, it had a real story and wasn’t a mixture of 1000 stories.
- One Piece - If Naruto was smart, they’d have shoved in more filler arcs among their normal arcs like One Piece. When you get a short 5-10 episode story in between the real story arcs, it doesn’t even seem like you’re watching a filler arc at all. This also allows for some juicy comedy and lots of laughs to help separate the seriousness of the manga arcs. And most importantly, it allows the manga writers to get ahead of the anime so there’s no waiting or shit quality fillers.
Really, what I’m trying to say, is that there’s tons of quality anime out there, and Naruto is no longer one of them. If you’re a die-hard ongoing shounen series fan, I’d probably check out the two animes I mentioned above (if you haven’t already). I think in terms of comedy and seriousness, they are both currently doing a better job. I also think both of them have much better character interaction, which in turn allows for better stories.
Naruto needs to get it’s act together because it’s not just shitty fillers anymore to me, they’re really starting to fail. I can’t have that happen to the first subbed anime I ever watched, especially considering that the manga story was/is of decent quality. It brings tears to my eyes.

I’ve gotten so bored with Naruto filler (I still watch it) I read all the scanlated chapters of Part II and started watching One Piece (upto 34 in 4 days). I agree that Naruto needed longer filler arcs, loads of 5 ep ones is really bad, I prefer the one off eps inbetween.
Naruto Fillers have and always will be the bane for the series’ fans. I don’t know how long they plan to keep this Nonsensical trend of pull canon out of their asses…Lets hope the fillers actually start picking up some direction in terms of story/relationship integrity soon.
There was a rumour around that the future Naruto episodes never intended to follow the mangaka’s esteemed works anymore, I also read somewhere that the current filler timeline had interfered with the manga timeline in terms of events that have happened in the Naruto Manga universe (for example, the slaying of the three tails or something).
Sigh @ Naruto. Big Sigh.
@necromancer: Indeed ;p. I picked up One Piece recently as well and I’m LOVING it. Seriously, it’s 100x better than Naruto in every way. I laugh more watching it that I do most comedy based anime, and I constantly go “OH SHIT!!” when Luffy pwns the crap out of someone. It’s one helluva fun ride.
@Darkshaunz: That’s a really disturbing fact. If they don’t even go back to the manga, I’ll be really disappointed. There’s no reason for them not to. I’m just waiting for them to do 3 years of fillers to make it feel like the 3 year time-skip in the manga. That’d be revolutionary. First time ever.
I don’t watch Naruto but it sounds to me that producers are just being lazy and trying to save money. Thank god that’s not what’s happening with Bleach right now. I’ve seen a bit of One Piece too but I never liked it.
When you said Naruto was boring and it wasn’t going anywhere I thought you were talking about the manga. When I realized you were talking about the anime I wondered why you were still watching it
I think you have a good point about including smaller filler arcs in between the main storyline. The main arcs in Naruto come back-to-back-to-back (omitting Tea Country and that one where Naruto spends the entire episode trying to get to the arena). They leave you a bit breathless. By the time the fillers start you’re somewhat grateful for a break and a chance to see the teams go out on some regular missions. After 20 or 25 straight episodes of it, though, it gets boring.
At this point I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Part II never starts and we have fillers from here on out. It happened to Rurouni Kenshin and I see no reason for it not to happen to Naruto.
Indeed Danny. I’m glad Bleach hasn’t hit the shitter like Naruto and I think One Piece is an acquired taste. I find it extremely funny and just as moving as any other shounen story.

Have you played naruto wars in Warcraft 3?
I don’t understand why these craptastic fillers are still showing. Sure the manga has enough of a head start now? If not, can’t you just just squeeze like 10 episodes out of every death scene, like they did with the Hokage?

i think this are the names for Kakashi Gaiden but some one write that they are fake and i think naruto part 2 will be made and naruto will return to be the best anime again
@Ituloy: Lol Naruto wars??! Unfortunately I stopped playing Warcraft 3 back when DOTA was still in its beta stage and literally nobody was playing it except me and a few friends.
@Kabitzin: Indeed. You’d think they could just add some spice into some of the fights to make them interesting and it could easily last a few episodes. Thats one thing I don’t like about how they convert manga to anime sometimes. They don’t need to follow it exactly punch for punch. A little spice never hurt.
@qwertypoiuy: I saw that on the other entry but hadn’t responded yet. I don’t trust anything that’s written down, ever. I go straight to the next episode preview before i even start watching every Naruto episode, and then I proceed to watch the show. Unfortunately I have yet to be surprised by what I see. Hopefully you’re right and in 2 episodes we’ll get back on track with the story.
Does anyone know where to suggest stories? Cuz I am POSITIVE that any other ideas provided by fanboys or fangirls will surpass anything the producers can think of. I’m serious.
They will NEVER END! Wherever the rumours of the fillers ending at 211 and 225 and 245 are all freakin’ lies. Im sure it makes some people happy but its just a heavy stone in your chest when you realize it isnt.
My Prediction: Naruto will be cancelled before the fillers are over.
But for now, my Naruto-Fillers-Suck-Like-Hell buddies,let us hold hands and pray for the producers to be lenient and keep the show on long enough for the fillers to end.
yes yes yes, ppl have given up on Naruto and have lost faith..it saddens me because Naruto one of my fave animes..one of the best I’ve seen (excludin the fillers).
BUT DON’T LOSE HOPE PEOPLE!! Come FEBRUARY 15TH, Part 2 of the story arc under the title “Naruto:Shippuden” will be airing. Just hope people, are still willing to watch it.
I havent watched naruto for awhile… i think ever since the fillers started.
And im thinking about watching it again. So if i do, what is a decent episode to start from. 125?… 120? And if anyone knows, i think bleach fillers ended and i want to know where to start there too. thenx.
