Ms. Sparkle Yakuza Chicken is NOT amused. Riku runs some more... Ayame(left) pwns Tsukasa(right) My fav. Her marching or whatever was cute

    Rating: 6/10

This episode wasn’t that great in pretty much any aspect. There were some funny parts but overall it wasn’t that exciting and the chance meetings weren’t cute enough to hold me over. If it wasn’t for those minor comedic instances and the somewhat decent looking girls (plus the mandatory locker room scene every episode), this would have scored lower.

I have some beef right now concerning the way Tsukasa’s character is being portrayed. I don’t know what she’s supposed to be like, but I’m not really very pleased with how aloof she is, especially since she’s the most active girl. I guess constantly sizing her up with Asa from Shuffle! is a bad idea, but they’re supposed to be the same archetype so it can’t be helped. She’s the forthcoming girl who is always kind just THERE and tricks you into doing stuff with/for her. Well, Tsukasa is a little too “out there” to be that tricky, and I’m sorry but I like my girls to have brains. *holds up “NO” pillow*

The revelation above is actually disturbing to me because I’m usually the type that likes the sporty/outgoing anime girl, so then if I don’t like Tsukasa, who do I like? Right now, my favorite has to be Mina, mostly because she’s the most “down-to-earth” type of character. Amamiya is cool and all, but going for the best girl usually doesn’t work out, so why not settle for one just as good but less popular I say. Mina would probably treat you better, and she most likely cooks better than Tsukasa (RIP Riku and Yakuza Chicken) but maybe not better than Amamiya since apparently she’s the best at everything. The small scene between Riku and Mina was cute, but I wasn’t satisfied. I want more, and they better deliver me some more or I’m going to shake my fist at the screen (because that solves all of life’s problems btw).

I feel really bad for Riku and the Yakuza Chicken this episode. They basically took a bullet so that Tsukasa didn’t get embarrassed or upset because she cooks like my dad after he’s had a 6-pack of Seirra Nevada Pale Ale. Yeah, don’t touch that shit(the food). But anyways, Yakuza Chicken pretty much got owned. I know I was thinking like, “Fuck, Yakuza Chicken is like the shit yo, nobody can beat him!” and along comes this pansy-ass airhead who can’t make food for a damn and completely pwns his burning passion. She loses, on every level.

I’m hoping they pick up the comedy a little more, or at least make this more entertaining. I always enjoy some good romance, but I tend to like it more if it’s coupled with comedy. I really wish they go back to the goofy/wanky/funky/etc type comedy and keep it fun and exciting. Although, I do recognize this episode as being a good character building episode, and we get to see more of Tsukasa’s personality, and because of that I can confirm I don’t like her. Well, scratch that, I don’t like her with Riku. She’ll probably find a home in someone’s heart, I hope, because she’s a nice girl. Other than that, it felt a little boring, but I wasn’t really in the Tokimeki mood at the time either. So, forgive my bluntness wherever possible!

    1. I am now positive that Tsukasa will not end up with Riku.

    2. *senseless fanboying*
      Mina! Mina! Mina! Mina!

Of course… with what happens in Ep05, who knows what will happen in the future? The initial archetypal impressions these girls gave turned out to be deceptive.

For all we know, Sayuri may be revealed to be a secret emo-goth, while Mina is a quiet psycho chick.

      Mmm… psycho chick.

    3. To expand on what I meant. At first impression, we would expect Mina to be the overly shy girl who stammers and hurs her way to defeat. Only… she turns out to be quite the predator…

      ^^;

Well okay, maybe not to that extreme, but she is definitely far more aggressive than first impressions will lead you to believe.

      Cheers.

    4. Yakuza Chicken’s power…is Over 9000!!!

They need an episode just focusing on Yakuza Chicken, and him bashing other Yakuza Chicken gangs. It wouldn’t just be filler, it would be stupidly awesome filler.

    5. Sorry Danny, I know you kinda liked her. In the end he’ll probably end up with Sayuri anyways so it doesn’t really matter.

In all honesty, I wouldn’t mind it one bit if all the chicks turn into crazy sob’s with some deep down hidden secret. It’d make the show interesting and I’d probably enjoy it more. Plus, curve balls are always appreciated in crazy animes like this. It happened in Shuffle! a few times and thats what made it good.

As for Yakuza Chicken episode featuring his own gang vs other gangs, that’d actually be pretty funny I think. I doubt they could do a whole episode since none of them could speak, but I think like a flash back of him “back in the days” would be hilarious.

    6. This wasn’t a strong episode, getting to know Tsukasa was enjoyable for me.
I still believe YakuChiki needs a girlfriend :)

    7. Lol, a girlfriend and a gang, that’d be the SHIT!
