  • Lovedol - 04 - Acting was never so stupid

Besides the fact that this episode had absolutely nothing to offer the viewer, I’d say they managed to do a decent job keeping me “entertained.” That is, if I actually cared enough to be entertained, which I didn’t. We didn’t learn any morals, there was no fanservice, nothing was funny, and the girls weren’t cute at all. Ouch? The only thing they almost did was completely embarrass the girls, and that would have made my day.

I’d have to say the acting ability of these girls is somewhere around uh, Haruhi’s from Ouran Host Club (ep. 19). When I heard them “acting” the first thing I thought of was “frederique-sama!” In other words, how the hell do they not hear how horrible they are, and how do they manage to stay cheery after hearing each other? The hell?

I’ll admit I was interested to see what happened throughout the episode, but in reality, I just wanted to see them all fail hardcore at voice acting. In the end, it was all very anticlimactic, and I was left expecting much more embarrassment than I received. Then after they ruin all my expectations, they go and have the sister slowly walk up to the mic as if she just shot down 100 badguys and shit was exploding in the background while she was reloading. Yeah…No. What happens after her epic pursuit to the mic? She gives a “woof woof” and people give her thumbs-up ‘n shit. Oh my god, anyone have a gun? I’d like to blow my brains out now.

But gasp, a ray of sunlight on the horizon! Next episode is at the beach. Oh the joy! I better lather up my hands for next time so I can…uh…type the next entry better *looks around* Hopefully next episode will at least entertain me with fanservice since this one failed to deliver the having-your-dreams-shattered type of drama that I expected. Oh well.

    “Summary”:
Ruri learns how to “woof” in bed with Mr. Pimp. Do I even need to mention she got lots of practice? Probably not. She is now a multimillionaire as a hentai VA and starts an inumimi movement. Inumimi is the new nekomimi, and nekomimi is sooooo yesterday. Look out, they’re going global with this, baby, GLOBAL.

I originally wrote “nothing happened” under here, but it just looked too bland. I wonder if anyone will pick up on my subliminal message. Hmm.

    1. If you’re frustrated at the bad acting… go and grab some Glass Mask, and fast!

      The perfect antidote.

    2. exploding…blow….gasp….bed….movement….

Nope, nothing sexual about those italicized words at all. :P

Another hilarious read, as usual. Good to see that the manager is getting a stupid amount of action off-screen, what a healthy young man.

    3. nothing sexual at all. obviously you can see that I was bored at some point.

dsong: i was talking about the “acting” that the lovedols had to do. Never watched glass mask hmmmm.

    4. This is probably the worst anime I have ever watched. Almost no moment without extreme level of cheesiness and stupidity. So much effort only for one “woof, woof”? And these morons want to be seiyuus? That’s too stupid even by Lovedol’s standards.

” Probably not. She is now a multimillionaire as a hentai VA and starts an inumimi movement. Inumimi is the new nekomimi, and nekomimi is sooooo yesterday.”

      ROFL! All hail inumimi! :D

    5. One of the reasons why I love following Lovely Idol on this AnimeBlog is that I am comforted by the fact that I am not alone in having my braincells die agonising deaths.

I have long learnt to approach this series with my expectations in the abyss. I have managed to extract much laughter and mirth from the complete absurdity of this anime, and that is the reason why I continue to watch this show, despite the fact that a meteor will sooner strike me from the Heavens than me buying the DVDs for this series.

The one disappointment I had with this episode was that Mizuki’s soul and brain apparently died the moment she sang with them in the last episode. She was basically a zombie in this episode and Yukumi’s bunny probably had more sentience at this point.

I started watching Lovely Idol because there was the possibility that I would see psycho-moe from Mizuki. Since this is merely the start of the season, I accepted that we would get solo episodes focusing on each of the girls before we get to the meat of Mizuki’s story. E-yup, I am actually expecting plot development from this anime, and no, I am not out of my mind… yet.

Much of the fun in this episode came from the Manager’s elder sister. Too bad Ruri did not fail in her VA début though. It would have made the show that much better, and it was the only point of the show where I actually experienced suspense( and I laughed much at Retsgip’s interpretation of it).

Looking forward to the Ep05 entry, now that the fansub for it has come out. I bet the fansubs are slow because they need to give recuperative brain surgery to the people working on it after every episode. I salute their sacrifice and effort.

      Cheers.
