Drama Drama Drama! Well, not THAT much drama, maybe just one “Drama” would be more fitting. It’s disappointing that they didn’t take the boxcutter route, but hey, there’s still time! Kasuga drama isn’t really that interesting since she’s the screwup of the bunch, but the most important part of the drama is the fact that she’s running into Riku pimping other women.

I think they look good together
Mina has turned out to be quite bold with her approaches on our dear sweet Riku-kun. It must be all his comments about her looking like a dolphin or something that really won her over. God knows only Mina would find that a complement, but we already know she’s the weird girl so it doesn’t matter. I’m just glad she finally got some screen time since she’s basically been absent from the show for a few weeks.

“…they may take our wives, but they’ll never take… OUR FREEDOM!”

Kasuga might make me fall in love with butts anime all over again…
Gotta love anime for always managing to somehow work in a butt during an important scene. I don’t really know WHY Kasuga ended up at the shrine while “running outside” for practice, but she did. Normally one would run around the school a few times or something, especially with a HUGE school like that. But anyways, here’s the second time that Kasuga has run into Riku with another woman. I have a feeling this won’t be the last time for Kasuga, and other girls are going to start getting jealous as well. Bring on the drama, please!

She looks like an old woman…and I really dig that

Lame.
So, this ending wasn’t all that flashy or anything. I had expected them to keep Kasuga in her drama state for much longer, but I guess they had to resolve it to make way for a beach episode. I’m starting to get the feeling that if there is any real drama, it wont last much more than a few episodes. The writers seem reluctant to end any episode with dreadful feeling and I think that will be the downfall in the end. Harem-esque animes are only good when there’s drama, and without it there really isn’t much left to catch our interests.
The past two episodes put me into a hopeful mood that this might be picking up, but I dont’ know anymore. I feel like it’s being too safe, and by being safe it fails to make us love or hate its contents. This episode wasn’t really that funny and the drama felt almost half-ass (at least there was drama), but at least we got to see Riku interact with every girl. Now on to the beach episode so I can commence with the fappage.

As expected, a conservative approach to the plot and characters will only get it a conservative score, if it really wants to shine, then it needs some extra spice (Maybe if Riku has an affair with other girls when he has chosen one, that would be make it dramatic and hilarious).
With all the focus on Kasuga’s ass, Im sure the Beach episode could not come sooner enough, there will be worldwide fappage as we see her don a bikini or whatever. Actually, make that all the girls (Do I smell an automatic 8 just for hawt fappage value?).
If that one comes, snap many, many, many pics please. =p
I dunno, I thought this episode was better than most of the rest. The drama was pretty lame, though at least there was SOMETHING compared to little to nothing a few weeks back. Or maybe my memory’s failing me again -_-;;
“Maybe if Riku has an affair with other girls when he has chosen one, that would be make it dramatic and hilarious”
That would be good material, though I doubt the ‘affair’ would go beyond walking side by side and holding hands xD
Though Riku hasn’t actually chosen a girl yet. He likes all the girls. Tsukasa was the one to force herself on him
I’ll try my best Darkshaunz. I think she also wears the stereotypical white dress w/ white hat as well. Should be pretty interesting to see how my outlook of her changes. Maybe just an annoying sexy character instead of just annoying.
@Danny: Yeah I agree totally. Even though Kasuga forced herself onto Riku, he seems to have some love for her. I’m glad he’s not a one girl kinda man or else this would be super boring.
Random Thoughts on Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Ep08
..) Psycho-potential in Tsukasa and Sayuri increasing. Mina’s meter remains in the sane region.
..) Aoba affixes -chan to Mina, and remains -san with Tsukasa. Talk about asking for trouble. Speaking of which, he stills refers to her as Kasuga( her family name) instead of Tsukasa( her given name).
..) I never really noticed it before( due to the frantic action), but in this relatively calmer episode, I realised that the environmental sounds for Tokimeki Memorial is superb, and easily on par with that of Kyoto Animation’s works.
The rustling sound of a towel rubbing your hair, the metallic clatter as volleyballs rattle into a metal bin, the smacks of your hands hitting a volleyball, the creaks of a bicycle wheel rolling down a road, the whoosh sounds of fast movement, etc…
It all makes the world of Tokimeki Memorial that much more immersive. Background sounds are rarely talked about in reviews, but they play an important part in capturing the viewer’s attention by immersing him into the show’s world.
..) The animation consistency of Tokimeki Memorial has also been excellent. The budget for this anime must be stratospheric. There are barely any still shots, and the background is seldom boring. Kudos to the production team.
..) Aoba is a nice guy, but his hint-detector is broken. Sayuri’s comments is about as close as you get without her asking him directly, “Is it so bad to actually confess to me?”.
..) Mina has become aware of Tsukasa’s existence, and vice-versa, but I highly doubt Mina would ever angst over her presence. Can’t say the same for our beloved red-haired ditz.
..) Mina is no dolphin. She’s a shark, and she’s hunting for you, Aoba.
..) Aoba needs to make up his mind about the state of his relationship with Tsukasa before it all blows to kingdom come. The clock is ticking, Aoba. The clock is ticking.
..) No Pan-Lady makes me a sad camper.
..) No Yagen Ryuuichi either.
Cheers.
lol, skane that’s good shit.
I too noticed how good the quality of anime/sound is and think it’s a waste of such potential without proper drama.
Riku is one of those overly innocent gentlemen which is probably why I like him so much
I do agree though, most of the drama will probably come from Sayuri and Tsukasa. ALTHOUGH, if Mina were to break out into the creepy stalker type then it would probably make for some decent viewing.
I LIEEK MINA. THREFOR THIS EP IS MADE OF WIN AND AWESOAME.
