Bleach - 107 - Kariya uses ‘the force’

So this episode was alright, but I was extremely put off by the huge flashback/recap of the bounto past (for the 100th time). Even I noticed the filler-esque ups and downs of the artwork. What the hell? I felt like NHK took over the animation for this episode. Ichigo’s animation was all over the place, and it seemed like his limbs weren’t really attached to the rest of his body with the way he moved. I don’t know, this is a filler episode, but they can at least try to do a good job.
Ichigo doesn’t know the word overkill
Don’t get me wrong, I thought the action in this episode was exciting in a way. Ichigo basically went nuts for the first few minutes of the episode, which was interesting in of itself. The artwork kinda of helped portray this, but still I thought it was a little off. Ichigo looked extremely skinny at times, with weird parts being accented like his wrists or his knuckles. I dunno, but enough about the artwork. The action was someone interesting, and it basically saved the episode. I desired a little more crazy moves from Ichigo, but I can see they’re going to add more distractions in the next few episodes, so they didn’t want to lay all their cards down this episode.

So, we all knew (at least some of us i guess) that Ichinose wasn’t dead. I was wondering when he’d finally show up, and almost gave up hope that they’d work him back into the plot because he had been absent for so long, but that was their master plan! They tried to leave him out of the picture long enough for us to forget about him so that we’d be surprised when he finally showed up this episode. Yeah, it didn’t work really. Nice try though. Maybe it was the fact that Ichinose died horribly easy due to his wounds killed the moment, or maybe because he just isn’t that strong, or he looks like a noob with his huge “V bangs.” Whatever it was, the big character twist just wasn’t very effective at all.

Am I wrong in breaking out in uncontrollable laughter after seeing Kariya’s doll? Seriously, is it not the most ridiculous looking thing you’ve ever seen? And guess what, I doubt Kariya will get any strong after surprisingly pulling this weapon out of his ass. So now what, he can swing air at Ichigo easier? I dunno, he could swing air beforehand. Maybe it’s a more condenced peice of air, which makes it strong and able to deflect Ichigo’s sword? I think the writers were just like: “Hmmm, I really dig Star Wars–HEY! Lets give Kariya a LIGHTSABER! High fives around the room!”
Now we get to sit through a couple episodes of people randomly showing up and pretending to be heroes when really they’re just in the way. Woohoo!

Also, its okay for a Shounen to copy Star Wars, Lightsabers are shiny and made of Awesome Pixie Magic. Now we need a little green man Bounto to turn up.

This episode was pretty me, Kariya’s doll was a complete letdown, since I really loved his character beforehand till the last few eps which have been bad. I mean he was getting beatdown by Ishida terribly but all of a sudden he can fight evenly with Ichigo. Also what a waste for Ichinose, since his showdown with Kenpachi was pretty good and he comes off looking like a total noob with his ‘comeback’. Although it’s fitting since he ends with all talk, no game type of attitude like his beloved ex-captain.
Also looks like the filler is finally coming to an end. Hopefully Kariya gets to upgrade his doll to a non-pathetic status, though I bet his doll ends up splitting into two lightsabers with a new color, before he gets killed off.
Ichigo’s bankai now seems way useless.
@danny: veeery good news. I’ve been waiting for the “real” plot, and it’s finally coming. I also haven’t read the manga so you get to read my omg-wtf-thoughts. Should be fun.

I agree it kind of fit ichinose’s character which has been all talk no action, but I still kind of feel sad for him though. Lol, maybe a white and black saber. Hell he can make it a staff, totally original…
@tedfox: For sure, his bankai is horribly overdone now. I used to LOVE the sound of his sword because whenever i heard a jingle I expected bloodshed. They totally desensitized us to his awesomeness. Damn them all.
