Bartender - 06 - The Story Inside the Glass

Special thanks to Skane for this title.

    Rating: 8/10

In reality, I wasn’t too thrilled with the plot of this episode, but at a second glance it turned out alright. I don’t think the writers have gone into as much depth with the drinks as they did with this episode, and we get to use a super awesome flaming hot sexual innuendo. Everybody wins! I’m sorry if my ratings are rather inflated, and that you (the reader) actually hates this show, but I fucking LOVE it. You may not feel many personal ties to the people he helps, but you do feel a sense of happiness after yet another person’s problems have been conquered. You know, kinda like living vicariously through Sasakura because we’re either too lazy, or not strong enough to help people as well as him.

Is it just me or does he look evil

Here we have a man, about read to tie the noose. I understand where he’s coming from when he longs for the past that he’s lost (wtf am I saying, i’m only 22). He feels like he’s sold-out to the masses in order to make money, but still longs for those days at the beginning, when him and his friend were struggling to survive. Back then is when he had the most fun, and his passion for writing ran wild. This episode is for the older anime viewers, because I doubt teenagers can even halfway relate to this. In a way, I he probably feels that he’s wasted his life away by writing crappy scripts, and it should be painfully obvious that wasting your life away is a BAD thing, especially in anime.

If they’re not married, they damn well should be

These two, wow. The way they were fighting and arguing was just screaming “GAY GAY GAY GAY” in neon bright letters above their heads. I’m sure they have wives (or maybe not since they’re devoted to their work), but it was kind of silly to watch. Kinda cute too. They even had the “no, you’re right. SIGH. I fucked up, it was all my fault. Will you forgive me?” line. I was hugging myself during this scene, it was just that cute.

Side note: Don’t even ask how I think two 60 year old quasi-gay men are cute. It just happened, k?

I’m not really certain about Sasakura’s methods this time around, but I’ll try my best. I just know there was a riddle involving malts, and then the final drink being a composition of all the malts. Kind of signifying how the guys sold out and have been doing “generic” movies using all the popular media, instead of being original (like the original malts). But, Sasakura tells them that the blended malt was the most popular because it was original, and it was the best out of all of them. He even gave a little shpeal about how he watched their movies. It was almost touching, except that this episode wasn’t as engaging as the others. Still, I’m amazed at the depth in which they use liquor to parallel real life problems. AMAZED.
