It’s in Manabi, stealin’ the innocence (02 - 03)

WHRYYYYYYYYYYY
This better not be an indication of more fanservice to come. I felt like I was hit in the face by a ball after watching the dodge ball scene. Why did they choose to accent such features? Have they finally broken down and decided to add a small amount of fanservice? I will turn away from this particular incident and pretend it was a some potential yuri material (YFR? not quite) for the young female audience. *whistles innocently* In all seriousness, it’s not that big of a deal, but it did kind of disappoint me seeing as I’ve been preaching that this is a show made to accent friendship and growth rather than lolis.
Since college this term is basically kicking my ass, I’m not sure how consistent these Manabi entries will be. The big dilema! Do I take a hit in my school work to watch all the anime I want, or do I sacrifice my one true love in order to succeed in school. It’s like droping soap in a prison shower, do you stink or do you take the anal rape? (Tack on another gay reference from retsgip!)
Other than the dodge ball scene (which I found to be quite funny for other reasons), I got plenty of lols (not lolis) from the remaining material concerning episode 02 and 03. Yes, this will be a two part entry since it’s 2x faster for me to combine them as one (kinda like me and darkshaunz). It should be fairly common from here on for me to do small entries only one or two pictures for the next few months, but I will try and highlight scenes that really stick out in my mind (good and bad).

Episode 2:
Rating: 9/10
By far, the most interesting and the most entertaining aspect of episode 2 was Mei allowing herself to fit in. She reminds me a lot of Natsuki (my other wife, first one being Yakumo), in both looks and demeanor, and is also going through the same sort of friend-related development. I’m not sure if you can classify her as tsundere since she’s being tsundere to her friends, but I guess that works, right? Also, it was fun to see them all have fun shopping and cleaning for the student counsel room, which turned out to be quite the bonding experience for a handful of people. I’m glad that in the end, the entire school opted to help out and turn the room into something more than just a pile of lonely books.

Episode 3:
Rating: 8.8/10
I actually didn’t find this episode to be all that exciting (minus the spurts of comedy), but the one thing it did manage to do is present us with some growth amongst the characters. We once again see Mei mingling with the common folk, yelling out strategies and criticizing people while she herself was standing still on the dodge ball court. I thought Mika’s dodge skills was incredibly cute, as well as her ninja pose from being scared by Manabi, later on in the episode.
Apparently the president of a different school was interested in the dodge ball tournament that Manabi had setup, and was wondering what else Manabi was planning. Mika seems to have the hots for her too (shown above - gogo yuri blush!). This meeting prompted Manabi to think of some ideas, but I guess they were all crappy because people didn’t like them. So, we get some growth from Manabi, trying to struggle through being rejected, and picking herself up to try and succeed.
Wrap-up:
I’m still extremely happy with this show, and plan to continue watching/blogging it. I prefer to just watch the RAWs since it doesn’t seem that complex, so I’ll most likely be blogging this RAW all season (scaaaaaary). I do however watch the subs when they come out to see if I missed anything and I’ll try and add stuff later if it turns out that I’m completely off base with anything. I apologize in advance if I’m not as thorough as expected.

First to view, first to comment?
Nice entry. Made me want to watch this show, but damned you-hellish-tube is loading first ep so slow, that I have time to actually write, that it is loading so slow that I have time to…
Internet is a brilliant and amazing thing!
Seen 2 minutes so far. When this blue haired girl shouted “It’s starting!” I got cold shivers… Wonder why?
Wow… you linked to Kyousora.com.
I’m speechless.
You rock.
The only starting here is some fine Junk in the Trunk.
So Rets, should I begin to fetch my Dusty Pedobear costume from my closet?
On a more serious note, I am glad that you managed to find another show this season which appealed to you. Admittedly I was skeptical of it all, especially with the lolicentric focus, but it seems to be holding out fanservicey wise (cept for Junk in the trunk shot, of course).
I’M IN UR MANABI WATCHING ALL UR FANSERVICE LOLOLOL
… … …apologies, coundn’t resist.
