Darkshaunz tastes the lightning

There’s something sweet about the end of this month, and that is, in one day, the meaning of life gets rewritten and this blog’s favourite shounen is back on track with the manga-related material. I’ve been crying out for Rukia for the last few weeks, and like an elated puppy who’s nee-san has finally returned to cuddle it in the valley of warmth for the first time in ages, a half-smirking grin fills my face. The existentialist blabbering from before obviously relates to the fact that the new eva movie remake (first in a series of four), gets its nationwide premier on the first of September. That little spark inside me is just reacting to the electricity filling the air at the moment. The flashes of my ten year old gaze at Rei Ayanami in volume three of the NGE manga is haunting my mind once again, red and blue never looked more beautiful.

Darkshaunz puts on his Shinigami robes once more.

For a moment in time, Bleach fans resembled the battered marines on the shores of Iwo Jima. Due to our preseverance and determination, we endured close to thirty days of fighting horrible fillers that the defending Japanese forces were throwing at us. Our patience has been rewarded. The failstorm has subsided, and whilst the last pieces of crap drop from the failclouds, we can all see the Sunlight breaking through what has been a nightmarish Soul Reaping excursion. Seems that the animation studio learnt something about fillers, it’s way better if you end them quickly, and it seems the mangaka himself is taking some of this advice too. The final percision artillery strikes of decent animation and proper writing has saved our weary platoon from certain annihiliation.

Darkshaunz walks down memory lane…In the Future

The word GAR has been flying around quite a bit these days. When I was younger GAR meant “Get a Room”, of course today it means all manner of manly, epic and stoic macho-ness. Derivative of a one “typo” when an anonymous described he was smitten by Archer’s manhood, GAR has been used ever since. Though Guts and “Garcher” have always been contending for the grand title of men amongst men, I always felt that it was a pretty radical tie between Future Trunks and Alternate Gohan. Alternate Gohan is the Gohan version I feel fits best with who he really is. Not the shitty bookworm/girlfriend-entertaining version portrayed in the crappier, later arcs of DBZ. So this one’s for you, Alternate Gohan. May your Masenko beam shine upon future anime generations.

Darksha-What the fuck is this shit!?

Score: 2/10

This episode was a catastrophe. Except for maybe the OP and ED, but the whole episode left such a massive shitstain in my mind that I am convinced that even the two constants were tainted by the overall malfunction of the episode. There’s something to be said when [DB] has to openly apologize to the Bounto arc and demand their return, that’s just the magnitude of failure we are dealing with. Somehow, I pulled through the entire filler episode without haemmorhaging from my ass and eyes. There’s just enough of my braincells left to do this entry, let’s get it over with.

Darkshaunz joins an Esper squad

Readers may recall that I ventured into the world of Lucky Star a while back, sampling the first two episodes with relatively poor enthusiasm for the material. You know what, I’m a jackass, but a nice jackass. So since I feel so saintly recently, I was willing to give Lucky Star a second chance to blow my socks off or knock me cold. I marathoned my way, trawling to yet more and more trivial crap which I experience from day to day, regurgitated to me in the form of some bizzare pseudo-moe character design. Like some drug addict, I felt repulsed with the content, but needed moar as well. On the plus side, hearing Hirano’s Haruhi voice again is very very refreshing. For my pants.

Fuck Yeah Anime.

To understand where I am coming from, you must understand that I recently read this article. I come from Western Australia where we are totally more awesome than East Australia, where Lupus is from. Here in WA, we play the same things as most Aussies love, Cricket, Footy and sometimes Basketball. But unlike Lupus’s society, everyone here loves anime and thinks that it fucking owns everything else, we even give weaaboo nick names to our players, like “Drirru-kikku-breakaa-chan~”. As proof, I asked a neighbour of mine who had a kid in grade school. I asked him whether he liked Dragon Ball Z, he said, “YEAAH!!” with more enthusiasm than a guy getting laid for the first time. That is infallable proof of the millenium that kicks more ass than the US military, don’t even try to debunk it.
