Air Gear - 15 - Trick 15
Rating: 8.3/10
Crows: 1 (at least its Ringo, I can’t even imagine what it might be hiding..no wait, I can)
*sob**cry* Where are my crows?? Where?!??!?! I want more funny comedy and many many crows! Oh well, at least it was a pretty good episode and got some good laughs but also some good plot development going on.
The fight resumes where it ended in episode 14, and Ikki pretty much gets his ass kicked until well he starts crying.
Everyone shade your eyes, this is a Naruto moment. *hangs head in shame* How could they pull a Naruto on us?!?! This is blasphmemy! I demand no crying (and more crows)! Well in any case, it got the job done. Rika started to have flashbacks and feel bad for Ikki even though she was still kicking his ass, and then finally she got tired. Surprise! Now Ikki’s ready to go and he’s all recharged after that Naruto-cry.
They don’t actually ever resolve the fight, but Ikki ends up behind Rika doing some uber ninja-like AT moves and then he flies. This is actually a pretty touching moment for this anime, and even I’m willing say this is probably the most touching moment so far. I was kind of happy that Ikki broke through his birdcage, and Rika was finally willing to let him fly like he was meant to.
The first time I saw this, I was like WTF!?! But then after I rewatched the episode, I was cracking up bigtime. It’s like the chastity belt in Robin Hood: Men in Tights…except…for a guy. His expression is just too perfect. Rika finally gave him his “prize” or whatever was promised to him, and he’s all hyped up. Then of course it dons on him…
Best scene ever. I love Ikki’s hand is shaking and they both turned into crazy nuts. This also wasn’t as funny the first time around, but second time I was cracking up big time.
The whole scene with Rika and Cat-kun(i dont even remember his name anymore) leads me to believe that we’ll be seeing a lot more of him and his wonder drog trio. I like his character so I wouldn’t mind if they worked him in every now and then to keep his character fresh.
Poor Ikki, his 30kg chastity belt is slowing him down and he always loses the time challenges against his teamates. Thats some god awful shit they got going on in that cup. I wouldn’t drink it that’s for sure…We see this same type of situation in Prince of Tennis, when Inui serves “Inui Juice” to the loser of their after-practice sprints. Even though it’s almost a 100% rip-off (i’m sure it’s been done before Prince of Tennis too), it’s still funny.
Oh yeah, gotta love the yuri action. At least they’re allowing for some female fanservice, even though Akito/Agito don’t seem very cute/hot to me. Oh well!
I thought they did a much better job with this episode than the last one. Nothing felt forced and it seemed to flow rather well from scene to scene. Even the flashbacks were shown at the right times and at appropriate lengths. I applaud them for not screwing it up that badly at all. I’ll admit though, that the story in general just isn’t THAT great so the episodes will never be super awesome, but at least they’re getting better. *clap* Now lets see more crows damnit! *prays to Haruhi*
