Darkshaunz isn’t “Shippy”, but “Rukia-ey”

What is it about people going too far when it comes to fictional aspects about characters in a certain show? I don’t particularly understand the rabid “shipping” mechanic. So I decided, since I know jack shit about the topic, to do some research this phenomenon. I did not even know that “OTP” meant “One True Pair” (or even existed as a term) until a long time reader, wickedliz, informed me of the abbreviation. One True Pair? Is it the pair to rule them all? The One Pair which fell into the hands of an obssessive and compulsive hobbit in the darkness of the fanfiction dimension? Judging by the militant “shipping” movements (I’m looking at you, Bleachtards) on the internets, they may as well be evil Bilbos, salivating and gnawing on woodwork. Join me, as we explore the cruel and pulsating depths of a romance phenomenon.

You don’t need to pierce the heavens to impress

First things first, apparently this blog is being infested by spam mail from pingbacks and my personal loan shark creditors. I have asked Retsgip to set filters to “fucking maximum”, which should alleviate all these new penis enlargement offers and vote for hillary clinton campaign comments that I have been getting. There’s no Bleach for 3 years, so let’s discuss the topic at hand. Kyon then, seeing as Haruhi season two is premiering this year, let’s not discuss Miss Haruhi Suzumiya because every single moe blog out there is probably shooting sticky bullets all over their dorms for her already. Let’s discuss this guy, who I think is just plain awesome.

Darkshaunz slaps Kubo Tite

Holy shit? my last entry was episode 151, that was like from the age of mayans. Well folks, I can’t explain my disappearance, but it probably had something to do with me being a lazy shit-eating sloth which decided that blogging would take a backseat to my new bitch, the Crapbox 360 (its going to bankai itself back to the Microsoft factory soon). Then I read the latest manga chapter of Bleach and knew, I just knew that I could not just sit on my arse and allow Kubo Tite to get away with what he’s done in the recent Bleach chapters without me unleashing a massive stream of whinging. A barrage of complaining so powerful, it will break his nose, legs and his imaginary future children which he is yet to father. So, for the seven people still reading this, let’s do this shit for old time’s sake.

Darkshaunz contracts CLANNAIDS

Some of the anime communities I observe seem to be up in joyful glee, high-fiving each other and humping the nearest Kyou cardboard cutout at the release at Kyoto Animation’s latest, CLANNAD. When I first heard of CLANNAD, I thought it was a Heavy metal band or a Chapter from the God-Emperor’s Imperial Guard. So like all e-tough guys saying, “I will resist this bandwagon and never succumb!”, I succumb like a kitten tempted by a wollen ball. I can see why CLANNAD will be the Blizzard Entertainment of anime, Kyoani’s relentless assault on defining genres seems unstoppable, and lest writers like myself may continue to reject these abominations, we can’t help but want to Hug the shit out of Nagisa.

Darkshaunz stands amongst Shipper artillery

It’s a beautiful saturday afternoon here, and what better weather to get into the mood for some Hollow smashing (a’la Episode 140). Ah wait, there wasn’t much of that in this latest episode, in fact this episode was Bleach exploring some of the more lovey-dovey moments of two certain people. So on front there’s a war between mankind and its’ guardians against the corrupted souls wandering our planes of existence, and another front, an internal skirmish about the hometown girl and her never-reaching love for a sword wielding fool. We also question the need and the current war between the two major shipping factions.

Fuck Yeah Anime.

To understand where I am coming from, you must understand that I recently read this article. I come from Western Australia where we are totally more awesome than East Australia, where Lupus is from. Here in WA, we play the same things as most Aussies love, Cricket, Footy and sometimes Basketball. But unlike Lupus’s society, everyone here loves anime and thinks that it fucking owns everything else, we even give weaaboo nick names to our players, like “Drirru-kikku-breakaa-chan~”. As proof, I asked a neighbour of mine who had a kid in grade school. I asked him whether he liked Dragon Ball Z, he said, “YEAAH!!” with more enthusiasm than a guy getting laid for the first time. That is infallable proof of the millenium that kicks more ass than the US military, don’t even try to debunk it.

When enticing fantasy becomes gritty reality

We’ve all imagined it, we’ve all dreamed of it. The thought of entering another dimension unlike our own, tasting, feeling and breathing the air of another space-time belonging to our biggest passion. The world of anime is the stuff of fantasy, and we’ve always dreamt of shaking hands with Frieza or dating Haruhi. Just like in Zero no Tsukaima, a young man walks into a dimension of magic and delicious flat chest, but its not all fun and games. What if you’re transported into the dimension of anime? Will you be able to survive?

Darkshaunz questions the business of anime

As it turns out, we hail from an anime age of conventions and formulae. It used to be that in the past, when animation companies were still finding out their own groove, there was always that little margin of error for their own individual flare and approach. Those subtle and unique flavours no doubt exist even today amongst different animation studios, but it may be the case that the diversity is being ironed out simply because animation companies are fighting for the same pie continuously.
