Asatte no Houkou - 07
Posted on December 3rd, 2006 by retsgip - 798 ViewsThe thumbnails turned out pretty shitty. I’ll try and figure out a way to make them look better.
Rating: 9/10
I’m going to start giving Asatte no Houkou 9’s and above because I feel that I haven’t been giving it the credit it deserves. In fact, I may go change their ratings when I have time. This show is such a treat to watch that I look forward to it every week with MUCH anticipation. It’s one of the only shows I’ve forced myself to watch regularly, even with my rough school schedule these past three weeks, and I’m not regretting it. I’d recommend it to people but they probably wouldn’t be reading this if they weren’t already watching it, and then they’d already know it pwns. Believe it! (wait…wrong anime. Crap)
So, if you haven’t already, you should head over to Danny’s write-up because he makes some really good points and has a little bit of a different outlook on this episode as me. Although, we both agree that this anime is great, and this episode is also great. The way they snuck in all the flashbacks in between the regular plot was a work of art, like seriously! I love when anime do flashbacks in creative ways that don’t make me snore or that create some sort of parallel with the current plot. Good shit I say, good shit!
I also love the way Karada and Shouko have gotten really close, but I wonder if it’s just because they’re sympathizing with each other? They say that when you go through a tragic or a particularly stressful experience with someone, you can become much closer, and that might be what’s happening here. Their growing friendship is easily seen when Shouko instinctively points to Karada when asked if she’s made any friends. As for Karada, she’s always kind of been strangely attached to Shouko since they body-shifted.
I’m going to take the blunt route and say Karada is acting like a little kid when she runs away. Sure she’s being mature by living on her own, but it also shows her lack maturity. She’s still a kid, after all, and she knows no other way to deal with the possibility that she’s a burden, so she runs away. The best course of action would be to talk it through with the both of them, but I’m not sure she’s capable of in depth conversations just yet. She also hasn’t figured out that her running away is actually a larger burden on Hiro and Shouko than if she stayed, but guess she’s too young? Or maybe she really does have the hots for Hiro? Jealousy? Perhaps an Electra complex except..with her brother who turned into her father who’s now the same age as her? They’ve left us with quite a few unanswered relationship related questions…

I’d rather think that Karada is feeling for Tetsu. And what did you use to resize those screencaps? XD
A little girl in a big girl’s body, striving to live alone? Going to agree with what you have said there (not only immature, but very stupid), no doubt its going to lead to another string of “Interesting” events.
I am not sure if the anime is following the manga very closely, but from what I’ve read about the Asatte manga, there are some “disturbing” relationships which will no doubt propel to make this anime a keeper.
You like my resizing eh danny?? I used the built in image viewer or something that comes with windows. My photoshop trial ran out so this is all I have lol.
Darkshaunz, I heard from various viewers that the anime is following a different path than the manga. There’s a new character and she’s kind of involved so naturally the show is going to be a little different.
I could use Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro for my resizing, though I generally use Gamemaker 6’s sprite editor. I take screens, copy into a sprite as a frame, then I can resize them all at the same time.
