    One Piece - Sayonara Merry

Posted on June 26th, 2007 by retsgip - 1,102 Views

    We love you Merry-Go!

It finally happened.  If you count The Going Merry as a crew member, thus personifying the boat, then somebody finally died on One Piece.  That’s right, all you bastards who say nobody dies in Shounen series just got fucking pwnd…kinda!  Although at times the show is rather childish, and the Japanese is so simple and slow that even I can understand it, I rank it pretty high on my enjoyment meter.  Honestly, I don’t know why, but if I had to give an answer, it would probably sound cliche like: “The character development is awesome!” or “The fight scenes rock!” which is why I just won’t give an answer, and accept the fact that I’m a loser for watching the show.

Hitohira - Stuttering and Blushing is the new Sexy

Posted on June 25th, 2007 by Darkshaunz - 1,392 Views

Darkshaunz s-s-stutters (its the new cute)

Thoughts on: Episodes 1 to 3 (9.1/10 overall)

I love it when the exam period has ended, you immediately flush yourself off any responsibility and you just vege out like a cucumber on your couch. But not for me, I intend to work hard for you guys during my mid-year semester break. By work hard, I mean of course continue to nag Rets for entries and also surprise (and traumatise) myself with anime which I have no fucking idea how they ended up on my hard drive. This week’s meatloaf surprise is “Hitohira”, I decided to try it out because I saw a megami scan of it on the interwebs with some schoolgirl undressing. I thought to myself, clearly, this would be an anime full of story and flare. It ended up pretty decent, no actual undressing though (Damn Megami).

Bleach - Rape, Emo, and Beards–OH MY!?

Posted on June 21st, 2007 by retsgip - 2,039 Views

Have the Bleach writers finally stooped so low as to shamelessly plug pop culture trends(rape, emo, and beards) into their episodes to boost their ratings?!? Why Bleach, WHY!? Only a few weeks ago you were sweetly caressing my balls as you coo’d me to sleep at night, and then out came the hammer, with a full double-handed downward motion that made Mario himself jealous. I heard (from a reliable source) yesterday that Mario sacrificed something like 200 Goombas on Mount Doom to appease the gods and bestow upon him the power to swing a hammer like Bleach does–results are still pending.

Somebody pass the cheese, I’m gonna be drinking a lot of whine.

    Bleach - Shoutacon Fillers

Posted on June 9th, 2007 by Darkshaunz - 1,306 Views

Darkshaunz puts on his sadfase Vaizard mask :(

    Score: Fillertastic/10

Right now, at this very moment, I should be studying for my Business Ethics exam. Rets is probrably reading this in Hawaii (and laughing at me), but you know what, I think I need to take some time out to completely rag on Bleach. Our friend Danny’s already covered it with bells and whistles, but I think that this filler arc really needs some work, but some scenes did pull some saves. Before some of you facepalm and point out that all fillers fail regardless, I think they worked Kariya into the Ichigo/Self-fight scene relatively well. This just seems like a step backwards to what I thought was an improving trend of filler-integration into the main storyline.

Mai Otome Zwei - 03 - Nao is the time for Action

Posted on June 2nd, 2007 by Darkshaunz - 3,051 Views

    Darkshaunz Materializes

    Score: 8.7/10 (Finally, Nina talks)

At last, the new Zwei installation has been subbed. The raw has been out for almost a week, and I was worried that with [Doremi] subs on vacation, the OVA would never get the Arinko-chan loving that it so deserved. Not to fear, our comrades over at [Static-Subs] have done a magnificent job and you can choose your flavour of .avi or .mkv (Go to Tosho now). The animation, sound and character designs are all well-executed as usual, and I am left wanting this to be a new series for the Mai-Franchise. I enjoyed this installment much more than the second one, as I felt there was more of a push to uncover the mysterious medusa-shock occurring across the Otome-verse. Let’s go.
