Oh how I missed Renji vs. Ichigo arguments
Rating: 8.5/10 (will prob hover around 8.5 unless something amazing happens)
*hums The Boys are Back in Town* So the fillers are finally over with this episode, and there’s a noticeable improvement in the quality of the show. Maybe I was distracted by the shitty plot of the fillers, but I really appreciated the artwork and the acting abilities of the VAs. Or…maybe I’ve just been watching too much Cartoon Network and I should go /wrists now.
Kon kicks ass
Speaking of VAs, Kon’s VA kicks major ass, as does Kon. His excitement and worrisome nature feel believable, even when coming from a stuffed animal. I really never appreciated Kon’s character until this short scene. When he’s not getting beat on or saying stupid shit, his personality can be rather amusing. I’ve always preferred higher quality comedy than slapstick, so maybe that’s why I’m suddenly realizing this.
Got Carrots?
So we’re introduced to a new character. If you feel like being spoiled, just head over to Danny’s entry and he’ll probably give you enough information to last you until next week. As for me, I figure he’s probably got some special powers otherwise he wouldn’t be jumping on telephone poles, and the wouldn’t have shown him to us. Yeah, check out my excellent powers of deduction. *dusts self off*

One other thing I found particularly interesting was the amount of depth the writers went into the whole cyclical existence or “repeating the past” type view on life. It sounded like something I’d sit down and talk about with my philosophical friends who question god and life a great deal. I guess it does have merit though, because a lot of things in life revolve around a cycle, and a lot of things are based on that. History, Karma…the wheel. Yeah, all circle type things! I don’t really know where I’m going with this, but I thought it was a cool thing for them to touch on. We also got some reflections on power and how it destroys people, and even a little bit of monologue about fitting in. Yeah, this was quite the philosophical episode.

It actually applies to the manga too. In terms of plot devices of the main arc prior to the Bounto arc, compared to the main arc after the Bounto arc. The settings are tweaked and locations are changed, but the skeleton remains the same.
Hence the repetition of the ‘we can stand on lamp-poles’ scene.

Yes! You’ve made my day with this post, and I’m glad that you’ve been keeping up with the show. I can’t WAIT to watch this episode.
@Skane: Danny was saying a few days ago that both arcs are almost exactly the same in terms of how they play out. I guess they were going for a cyclical kind of storyline. That’s cool in a way actually.
@Danny: Ahhhhh. Well, I’m sure we’ll find out all about it next episode or at least soon.
@Darkshaunz: Yeah, you can start d/ling bleach again! I think bleach will end up higher on my shounen list than Naruto because well, I don’t read the bleach manga so i’ll be surprised by all that happens. Naruto, I already know everything so I might get bored with it. Oh well! It’s the writers fucking fault for making shitty Naruto fillers.
