Bleach - 147 - Everyone is kinky for Rukia

Darkshaunz gets lost in the Menos forest

    Score: 7.0/10 (Rukia, saves it)

I have an exam on Monday evening. Common sense and student logic dictates that I study for that exam, but like all good exponents of decent logic, I decide to take the serious academical consideration into the palms of my hands, and toss them into the great burning fires of procrastination. Bleach continues the trend of confusing the shit out of us, this week is neither great nor shit, but rests in a comfortable position slightly above mediocrity. It’s like I want to get angry at this episode, but I can’t because it has a metric tonne of Rukia in it, and enough “that was retarded, yet hilarious” moments to save it from the aforementioned Crash n’ Burn of say, 145. So in gambling my future away for this post, let’s get on with this chlorox fest.

    Bleach - 146 - Sensationell, simply sensationell

Darkshaunz rides on a Giant Sandworm

    Score: 8.7/10

It’s a beautiful Saturday afternoon here, after a glorious sleep in preceeding a hectic university week, it was time to hit up the Bleach machine for some sand-filled goodness. Bleach’s performance is erratic at the moment, one week it is good, the next it dives into the oblivion, but this week’s latest installment takes off on all hydrogen boosters, hopefully propelling audiences into the vestiges of space before once again re-entering Earth’s atmosphere in some ditzy and cosmic catastrophe. If you have some sushi, some chips, or some beer, Bleach 146 is ridiculously satisfying for an episode in which nothing “really” happens. Goes to show that Bleach doesn’t have to continuously kill shit to keep it entertaining, seinfeld-ism helps in between after all.

Bleach - 145 - As exciting as a day in the Morgue

Darkshaunz readies for the crash n’ burn

    Score: 6.0/10

Another late entry for Bleach this week, as I have become innundated with a barrage of university assignments. Alright, what is there to say for this week’s episode? It was shit, yeah that would pretty much sum it up. Our friend Danny scored it with a 7, but then again he has a greater propensity for patience when it comes to rage-inducing episodes such as this one. Bleach anime at the moment resembles a plane that just took off on a promising flight, only to be hijacked by the AL-QUALITY terrorists and forced down to the ground at 300 km per hour until the craft smashes into a fiery death, taking down all the Bleach fans in the passenger cabin. To the guys over at Bleach Inc., make sure shit is happening in an episode, even if it’s non-filler.

Bleach - 144 - The Day Hueco Mondo stood still

Darkshaunz comes out to play After Dark

    Score: 8.0/10

Bleach is back this week, despite a “scare” by Dattebayo that they were going to drop it for Genshiken S2 (YHBT). I can tell the Bleach community is abuzz with the latest Bleach OP on offer. My only complaint is the usual, there’s just not enough Rukia in the intro and it lacks the suave and trendy style which was present in the first OP. Let’s face it, the first intro is by far superior to any that we’ve seen so far. Granted, this new OP is by no means “Bad”, it’s just the same related-to-arc crap which all the other anime are doing. Let’s get stuck into it before my fanboy starts showing and my rabies-foam starts to cover my LCD screen.

    Bleach - Blacker than Dark

Darkshaunz looks forward to the coming installments

There’s not much to talk about in this week’s Bleach episode. It’s your typical transition-to-main arc fare which just outlines the things we should expect in the coming weeks. There’s no score attached because there was nothing as such to score. Animation and all that shit came through looking decent, but it’s great to see Ishida and Chad getting into the big picture again. Reminds me of when Bleach was at it’s peak, Soul Society arc. Can this new arc lead us into the land of awesome?

Bleach - Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door

    Darkshaunz sheds a fanboy tear

Score: 8.0/10 (Why take Rukia away from us!?)

I said in my previous entry that Rukia’s had an awesome run in the show ever since her return to Karakura town, and after our drowning wait of her return during the terrifying fillers. It was all too good to be true as usual, and we see her exiting stage right yet again (for no real reason). The episode continued on with the dark, angsty and twisted metal feel once again, leaving a bittersweet and tingling sensation at the back of your mouth. It is time for the hero to dim the light inside him and embrace the darkness, because there’s going to be a lot of it in the Citadel of night.

Bleach - She loves me, She loves me not, They love me

    Darkshaunz stands amongst Shipper artillery

It’s a beautiful saturday afternoon here, and what better weather to get into the mood for some Hollow smashing (a’la Episode 140). Ah wait, there wasn’t much of that in this latest episode, in fact this episode was Bleach exploring some of the more lovey-dovey moments of two certain people. So on front there’s a war between mankind and its’ guardians against the corrupted souls wandering our planes of existence, and another front, an internal skirmish about the hometown girl and her never-reaching love for a sword wielding fool. We also question the need and the current war between the two major shipping factions.

Bleach - Lock, Stock and 2 Smoking Arrancars

    Darkshaunz remembers the Bleach movie.

    Episode Score: 9.0/10

    Movie Score: 7.9/10

Is it that time already? Time sure passes by quickly when you are having fun, as they say. By gosh, we are having a bloody ball with Bleach at the moment, the upwards sloping trend shows no signs of slowing down as our Karakura boys and girls continue to swing their pointy-things in the general direction of the big, bad Arrancars. As the clock ticks down to the Winter beatdown, both sides retreat to their respective lanes to a much needed showdown on this fateful afternoon. Oh, and I decided to add in some of my thoughts on the Bleach movie which was made available on the interwebs recently as an afterthought.
