    Nodame Cantabile - 01 - First Impression

    Beautiful piece

    Rating: 9.5/10

The artwork in the first few minutes of this episode almost put me off, and I was thinking “Wtf? Why do people even bother watching this?” Now, I’ve watched the episode three times since yesterday, and I’m still listening to it as I write this entry. My diamond in the ruff award for this season based off the first episode is going to Nodame Cantabile. I heard little to nothing about it before the season, but its finally starting to get around.

Shuffle! Memories - 02 - Saved by the KKK

Darkshaunz joins the Kita Kita Kaede

    Score: 7.0/10 (Saved by Kaede-chan)

To be honest, I was looking forward to seeing what Shuffle! Memories would be all about, only to be somewhat stumped at just what the series’ purpose is for. When my peers informed me that it would be a remake, I was honestly psyched, as I thought maybe Kaede wins in this series or that Asa turns into a green hentai tentacle monster. Maybe something less exaggerated, but I was obviously pining for something awesome. Then episode one came, and I was left wanting more. This episode was well…trying my patience.

    Naruto - 217 - We are their allies!!!11!1!

So we finally get some action, and the filler writers actually managed to work in a suspenseful plot into the show. Like, wow, I actually almost feared for the characters, even though I know they’ll all end up alive at the end of this arc. The music wasn’t new or anything, but the way it was used was reminiscent of the old days. The art quality was also decent, in and out of the fight scenes. I’d rank it up there at about Bleach quality once again. This is hands down, the best arc I’ve seen since episode 136.

Pumpkin Scissors - 15 - Rape raises the spirit of man

I was really looking forward to this episode, but alas, I was disappointed once again by this series. Don’t get me wrong, this wasn’t a bad episode, but I the events didn’t play out quite how I was lead to believe from the previous episode. I guess some issues needed to be resolved before the evil bad guy could finally get capped, and the bad guy needed to flex his evil organization muscles one last time to make us believe he wasn’t a pansy rat pansy.

    Bleach - 111 - Father Fest 9000

    Self-wedgies are SERIOUS business

    Rating: 8.5/10

I kind of wish that they included a little more plot to this episode, and a little less “omg lets run from the Grand Fisher.” I did however, enjoy the little spurts of “real” storyline that we got at the beginning and the end. Any time we have an appearance of the three bounto hunters modified souls, we have a filler portion of the series, and I have a sneaking suspicion that they’ll be worked into the plot a lot more from here on out. They may not be strong or all that useful, but they do create a short amount of comic relief.

    Manabi Straight - 01 - First Impression

Following someone’s finger with your eyes never took so much effort

    Rating: 8.7/10

Yes, hell hath frozen over, and the self-proclaimed MILF lover has fallen for the charm of quite possibly the loliest show of the season. How could this have happened? I point my finger at Kurogane and Danny who kept telling me to watch it until I gave in, those bastards. When you see me in hell, you know who’s to blame for my descent into the unending fire. *shakes fist*

Although I admit that I have little faith in this season, I may still pick up a few different titles just to keep me occupied. This is definitely a possible candidate, but first I need to wait and see where it goes with the second episode. If it doesn’t suck, then I’ll most likely blog it.

So then, what is it that draws me towards the females with guns (e.g., Black Lagoon, Gunslinger Girls, Chrono Crusade)? Is it my American background? *cue girls in bikinis shooting semi-automatic rifles* Maybe the sight of seeing a female, which is typically a passive gender, take initiative is what intrigues me? Whatever it is, I always find the sight of a female with a gun enjoyable and somewhat sexy.

Bartender - 07 - ‘One for the road’

    Rating: 9.0/10

Although this episode might be a stretch in terms of believability, I still enjoyed the messages it got across to the viewer. There were a lot of coincidental happenings, which I always tend to hate, but they were well done in this case. They weren’t major plot developments, but they helped the two other gentlemen, who stood in, do a splendid job helping two confused customers.
